A lifetime of backing for your investment!
IMOCOM, Inc. was founded in 1952, working in the field of hardware. A short time later, cash shortages restricted imports, which led some Colombian vendors to venture into manufacturing. In 1956, in an outstanding example of adaptation to change, we began representing manufacturers of machinery for metal mechanics and plastics. Three years later, the first imports were acquired, making us distributors of capital investments.
Committed to Colombia's growth, we continued to open branch offices to meet the needs of the industrial market outside of Bogotá. We opened offices in Cali, MedellĂn, Barranquilla in the 1960s, Manizales in the 1970s, and Bucaramanga in the 1980s.
In the 1970s a Swiss manufacturer asked us to represent their mining machinery and to provide them with support for service problems that their agent had not been able to handle concerning the locomotion machinery that was being used in the tunnels of the Chingaza hydroelectric project. Adapting to the country's developments, we stepped into the world of the mining and construction business.
For many years we sold conventional technology machinery, but this gradually began to change with the arrival of CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) technology, which made it possible to reduce production costs. Nowadays clients are increasingly using new technologies, becoming more competitive, and this has allowed them to export more. New technology is synonymous with opportunity for us.
Selling machinery requires well-trained sales engineers, as well as service staff. The machine operators must also learn how to use the new technologies. To meet this need, in 2002 we created the Technological Training Center. Our technical staff receives constant training, both in-country and abroad.
Nowadays we work with international firms on the leading edge of technology, quality, and service, in the fields of metal mechanics, plastics, packaging, mining, and construction.
Over 50 years of experience have enabled IMOCOM, Inc. to serve and satisfy close to 5,000 companies in Colombia, and to make inroads into the Latin American market with important projects in countries like Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Dominican Republic.
IMOCOM, Inc. has provided most of the industrial machinery that has been successfully installed and operating in different manufacturing sectors in Colombia.
